Snow Optimism

Was going to write a Haiku about this but I think the photo says it all. Taken as the Meeting Place Cafe on Brighton seafront.

Experimental Life Studies in Clay

Experimental life studies in clay and charcoal from class today. I was thrilled with how my model turned out given how difficult I usually find working with clay. Working in 3D had an interesting impact on the development of my drawing which you can see in my next post.

I've missed New Designers (www.newdesigners.com) the last few years so it was great to go again. During week 1 a selection of my favourite graduates are listed below - there is definitely a theme here!

Group Writing Exercise

Among ants ornate mandibles have evolved independently in numerous species
without walls drew themselves through
layers of paint on the canvass
"So, what time is the next episode?" I asked
The silence fell like rain
they sailed away for a year and a day to the land where the bong trees grow
wings and fly away to calmer seas

Katies 50 Word Response to Scars (01.06.10)

I like this one especially. I have one just like it which I will send when I find it. My favourite one, scars that is, is on my chin from falling over when I was 3. It has grown with me, and now looks more dramatic than it actually was.

Memory

Something happened today which, at the time, I thought would make a great story – but, now, I can’t remember what it was. Was it that the story itself was actually not so remarkable or that my memory is drifting away? Was my memory always this bad? I’ve just remembered it!

Loneliness

Loneliness is a strange thing. You can be in a room full of people and feel more lonely that you thought possible. You can be Alone and not feel the ache of loneliness. It's not about the people physically around you, it's about the connections in your heart and soul.

Scars

The small scars on my body tell their own stories. The time I sliced my finger opening mozzarella at Gaby's house. I recently got a blood blister but I can't remember how I got that. My favourite is the one on my head my mum gave me with her fingernail.

Parallel Universe

I wish I knew how to spell, maybe other things in my life might be different, like in a parallel universe there is a Lucy who can spell and is the president of Brighton arm of the Women's Institute and I know how to bake cakes, I could still learn.

My Inspiration

Creative Journeys - Keeping a Visual Diary course and tutor Katie Sollohub have inspired me to start this blog so I thought a photo of my classmates focused on their work at sunset was a great place to start.
